His great grandson comments:
My great grandfather, William Robert Richards originally signed up on 31st August/1st September 1914 in the Royal Field Artillery (service number 12013). He was discharged after 86 days (24th November 1914) with the comment “not likely to become an efficient soldier”. He was then called up for service on 8th July 1916. It appears the military could afford to be more selective in 1914!
